WHAT TO EXPECT

at Our Worship Service

Iron City Church gathers every Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm to worship the Lord together at Southside Baptist. We desire the beautiful diversity of God's people in our city to come together to display our unity in Jesus. Please come as you are, and our prayer is that the Lord will use our times of worship together to transform us all more into the image of Jesus.

ADDRESS

The address for Southside Baptist is 1016 19th St S, Birmingham, AL 35205.

PARKING

There are several spots available for street parking surrounding the church, but we have designated parking areas available for use every Sunday. There will be parking attendants to direct you to these two lots:

  • Southside Baptist Parking Lot: Enter from 10th Court S on the left side of the church. It is on the right.

  • UAB Parking Lot #2: This smaller lot is on the left side of 10th Court S.

You will find a detailed parking map at the bottom of the page.

ATTIRE

When it comes to attire, we very much encourage you to come as you are! You will see many of our members wearing casual dress (ie: jeans and a shirt). You may also see some more dressy attire (slacks or dresses). Several of our ICC community are in the medical field and come straight from the hospital, so it is likely you will see people in scrubs. We encourage you to wear whatever is comfortable and makes sense for you.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

We love children here at Iron City! We are happy to have yours here with us. (Don’t worry, we don’t mind the noise during the service!) There is a room for nursing moms downstairs. (Just enter the door to the left when you first enter the church lobby and take the stairs down.)

We want to come alongside your family as best we can to provide a safe and engaging environment for your kids to hear the gospel. All of our volunteers and teachers are committed members of ICC, have passed a background check, and have completed training in our policies and procedures. Caring for your child well is very important to us. Thank you for trusting us with your kids! We are so grateful to be a part of God’s work amongst the next generation.

Checking Your Child In Before Service: When you arrive at Southside, go to the left side of the building near the covered roundabout. Our greeting team will look forward to meeting you and help get your child checked in.

SERVICE

Our services typically last an hour and 30 minutes. We usually begin with a Call to Worship (opening scripture, a confession, or statement of beliefs), an Invocation, sing songs of worship, pray together as a church in Congregational Prayer where a few members of our church will pray for specific prompts, hear a reading from scripture, hear the Word of God preached, take communion together, sing more songs of praise together, and close with a Benediction (a short blessing to conclude the service) and singing the Doxology.

WORSHIP IN SONG

Our worship band is comprised of volunteers who are members of our church. You'll likely hear a mix of classic hymns and more contemporary and recent worship songs. We hope to reflect a diverse mix of music and voices in our effort and pursuit of being a multi-ethnic church.

DENOMINATION

Iron City Church does not belong to a formal denomination. To learn more about our theological beliefs and convictions, please visit our Beliefs page.

HOW DO I GET CONNECTED WITH MORE PEOPLE AT ICC?

Community Groups are where we do life together at Iron City. It's where we really get to know people and invest in one another's lives, intentionally give and receive spiritual encouragement, and connect with other believers for Bible study and prayer. You are welcome to try a group at any time! Visit our community groups page for more information.
